I
graduated from Dalhousie University with an Honours Bachelor
of Commerce degree in 1972 and a Bachelor of Law degree in
1975. I have been practicing law in Ottawa since 1977 with 75%
of my practice being family law. I am conveniently located in
Bells Corners which serves all of Ottawa and communities west
of Ottawa. I have been active in writing for and
teaching family law to the public, law students and lawyers
and creating innovative ways to deliver family law legal
services. I have had a web site www.thepascoedifference.com
since 1995 on which you can learn more about me and family
law. You can also obtain many articles I have written about
family law and wills, powers of attorney and the
administration of estates at my web site
I have always believed "the process" of practicing
family law was just as important an element of practice as was
providing legal advice and
advocating a client's case. I am therefore very excited about
being able to provide the collaborative law process to clients
when it is appropriate to do so. I have seen too many
times in my 25 years of practicing family law unfair results
and far too costly processes, both financially and
emotionally when done in the traditional manners of
lawyer to lawyer negotiations, court proceedings and even
mediation. I believe the collaborative law process can be a
better method to resolve the many legal, financial and
emotional issues that occur on marriage breakdown. |
